If you are traveling to Cape Cod this summer, you may be wondering if there are any specific places you should make sure you visit. Of course, if you are traveling to Cape Cod, a large part of the appeal is the time you will be able to spend on New England’s quiet beaches. But there is a lot more to Cape Cod and the surrounding areas than just the Cape itself; here are a few other places you may want to consider.

One of the biggest appeals of the Cape is the islands that lay just a few miles away – Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. While these two islands are often synonymous with one another, each offers a distinctly different feel and a distinctly different reason to visit. Martha’s Vineyard is a great escape for the day if you want to witness a lively, small town with plenty of charm but also with plenty of familiar trappings. Nantucket, on the other hand, is great for those visitors who want to experience a throwback to a time when McDonalds and Starbucks did not exist – who want to visit a pristine island that has remained classic in every sense.

The Cape Cod Baseball League is another great thing to be a part of on your visit to the Cape. This league is comprised of the top college prospects in the country, and yet, it is a completely unique baseball experience as all the games are absolutely free. You can bring a blanket and a picnic and sit right alongside the field, enjoying top-level baseball action from the sport’s future stars.

The city of Boston is also, of course, only a short drive from Cape Cod. The city of Boston is rich in history and tourism opportunities, and you will surely be happy that you made the trip to spend a day or two exploring. Keep in mind, however, that the drive from Boston to the Cape is treacherous on weekends; so make sure you take this trek on a weekday.

Cape Cod is one of the most charming vacation areas in America; but don’t just spend all your time on the beach – get out and experience some of these wonderful escapes as well!
