If you are just graduating from high school (or if you have a child who is just graduating from high school), this is an exciting time, as the transition from high school to college – from adolescence to adulthood, from “living at home” to “living on your own” – begins. But this can also be an overwhelming time, and one of the most overwhelming decisions of all is the major you will decide upon, as this single decision will have a great impact on the rest of your future.
When people enter college, a lot of them make the mistake of choosing a major based on what they believe will make them “good money” after school, but if they are studying something they do not enjoy, or if they are studying something they are not well-suited for, they will not meet the success other students with the same degree might. If you go into college knowing what you want to do after school, you are in tremendous shape; even though some might tell you to “make sure you choose a profitable major,” you should always major in the area that you are passionate about, as this will lead you toward a job that you can enjoy working for the next forty years! @@AMAZONWIDGET;college major;1000@@. At the same time, however, there are many students who go into college without a specific area they are passionate about, and without something specific that they enjoy studying. Do not pick a major based on “what will make the most money” if this is the case for you, as you might end up studying something you are not well-suited for; instead, find the subject (or subjects) that you are most adept at, and as you study these areas you will start to see your future opening for you. When it comes to choosing a major, there is no “exact science,” as it is different for every person, but as long as you choose something you are passionate about or something your brain is well-suited for, you will be in great shape as you move out of college, into your future!Recent Posts
